How do I sort event photos by face automatically?
Face recognition groups an album by person. The software detects every face, clusters the ones belonging to the same individual, and produces a set of photos per person, so a 900-frame event becomes one gallery per guest or athlete. You confirm who is who once, and later events match against the same registry.
What it replaces
Manual tagging. On a large event, tagging by hand is measured in hours and is the single reason most photographers deliver one big folder instead of a gallery per person, even though the second one sells far better.
Where it works, and where it does not
Face recognition is strong at weddings, corporate events, school photography and portrait sessions, where people look at the camera. It is weaker in action sport, where a large share of the best frames show a back, a helmet or a face in shadow. That gap is why number recognition exists alongside it.
