How do I set a photo gallery to expire?
Give the gallery an expiry date when you create it. After that date the link stops resolving and the photos are no longer reachable, without you having to remember to close it. Expiry is how archive storage stays bounded, and it is also what makes a paid re-activation possible later.
Two reasons to expire a gallery
- Storage. A season of weekly fixtures is tens of thousands of frames. Galleries that never close mean storage that only grows.
- Commercial. "The gallery closes on the 30th" converts far better than an open link, and re-opening it is a service you can charge for.
Expiry is not deletion
An expired gallery stops being reachable by guests. Whether the underlying files are also removed is a separate decision, and worth being deliberate about: clients do come back a year later.
In SnapFlow
Albums take an expiry date, and can also be set to a timed release so the gallery opens at a moment you choose rather than the moment you upload.
